Love hot tubs? How about a hot tub…HAT??

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Okay…so, I guess we hadn’t seen it all yet.

A Japanese company called the Hair Doctor offers a product called the Hot Cap. (I have to say, if nothing else, I love the pictures advertising the product!) For the low cost of a little over 9,200 yen (about $108.00), you can purchase the hat, which claims to help with non-hereditary hair loss!

The Hot Cap contains a “natural negative ion ceramic tourmaline” said to draw toxins and impurities out of the scalp. The negative ion ceramic layer, along with the infrared radiation from warm water, increases blood circulation and rejuvenates hair follicles. Ultimately, the goal is to prevent hair loss over time. It’s recommended that the Hot Cap be used with shampoo with sebum removing capabilities, and a healthy head massage as well.

The site says it’s like “having a hot tub on your head!”

Anyone brave enough to order a Hot Cap and let us know your thoughts? If so, we’re absolutely interested in what you think! At the very least, it could provide some entertainment at a party!

Lonnie celebrates 21 YEARS with OHT!

Monday, July 11th, 2011

It’s amazing how quickly 21 years can fly by – and how much you can achieve during that time. Lonnie McCann, our Senior Service Technician knows a bit about that as he celebrated 21 years with Oregon Hot Tub last week.

Lonnie began his career with Oregon Hot Tub as a part time temp. During his first two weeks however, he logged in 40 hours of overtime because he was utilized so much. Not exactly part time. He was hired full time shortly after that. A month later, he was moved up to head of the delivery team. Talk about quick advancements. But that just comes naturally for Lonnie.

In late 1994, Oregon Hot Tub (then still called Oregon Hot Spring Spas) opened a showroom in Bend. The lead service tech at the time was sent down there to help get thing started, which vacated a spot in Portland. Lonnie shifted over from delivery to service at that time and has been there ever since – now moving up to becoming our senior service tech. He keeps up on training and has logged over 34,000 hours of field service time in addition to factory training. Lonnie said that it’s been easy to stay for 21 years –it’s always been a good fit.

He feels his most proud achievement was in 2009 when he was awarded with the Mueller-Crispin Founder’s Award  – the highest, employee-voted recognition that Oregon Hot Tub awards. A close second is the everyday satisfaction he gets from connections with customers. He now services hot tubs that he delivered over 15 years ago. Being part of the “Hot Spring family” with every customer – which it really is – makes it that much more enjoyable and worthwhile.

When he’s not working, Lonnie likes to stay busy with family and friends – keeping it simple and low key. He enjoys a good game of pool and actually travelled to Las Vegas twice for Nationals for the American Poolplayers Association.  So next time your tub needs service – you’ll likely see Lonnie. Here’s to 21 more years with him. Congrats Lonnie!

Dean celebrates 11 years with OHT

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Recently, our own Dean Thurston, celebrated 11 great years at Oregon Hot Tub. We are both honored and fortunate to have such a dedicated, respected and hard working member of our team. Many of you know Dean already through your interactions with him in the Beaverton showroom, but here is a little background on Dean that you may not know about.

Dean spent the late 70’s through the mid-90’s balancing a busy musical performing career while managing a flourishing manufacturing company in the Los Angeles area.  With the implementation of Quality Circles and ISO certification, he challenged the company to a deep commitment to developing programs which enabled the company to consistently produce and deliver high quality manufactured goods throughout the world.  In 1995, he traded the stressful L.A. schedule and lifestyle for a more relaxed one in Portland.

In 2000, Dean joined the Oregon Hot Spring Spas organization, now known as Oregon Hot Tub.  It was a logical fit, because HotSpring Spas are manufactured in an American, ISO certified plant.  The manufacturer and the dealership have demonstrated a commitment to excellence spanning more than 3 decades.

For eleven years, he has proudly represented Hot Spring products at Oregon Hot Tub’s flagship store in Beaverton.  He takes pride and pleasure in skillfully matching clients to the hot tub which best suits them.  Customers have choices, but Dean knows that the best choices are within our family of spas.  Join the thousands of happy HotSpring owners who started with a unique shopping experience and progressed the to ultimate ownership experience!

Here’s to 11 more great years with Dean at Oregon Hot Tub. Ask for Dean when you visit the beautiful Beaverton showroom. He is eager to introduce you to Oregon Hot Tub and Hot Spring Spas, the one friends recommend and as Dean puts it, “the only one I will ever own.”

Kids Love Hot Tubs

Proof that kids love hot tubs

Sometimes you just don’t need to look any farther than your kids to figure out why having a hot tub is a great idea! Take a look at this video of Jared, a 10-year old presenting a Powerpoint presentation (!) on his Top 10 Reasons Why Kids Love Hot Tubs. He’s been a hot tub lover for 7 years already, which gives him plenty of experience with the topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66_35kZ0L3Y&feature=player_profilepage.

Okay…so some of his points are definitely from a kids point of view. (And…by the way—can you imagine most of us even being able to make a Powerpoint presentation when we were 10??) But doesn’t it make you smile and want to just head out to a hot tub for a soak?

Diamonds Are A Hot Tub’s Best Friend

But don’t take our word for it..

We’ve been telling you for quite some time about how amazing the new ACE Salt System is – but instead of continuing to listen to us, read what Mary Louise and Dean had to say about their recent experience with ACE:

“Anyone out there thinking about buying a new spa or trading their older spa in for a new one, no matter what size, should consider an Ace Salt Water HotSpring Spa. Oregon Hot Tub came out to our house, took the old spa off the deck and replaced it with the new one. It was a quick and easy transition.

The Ace Salt Sanitizing System is so easy to use. Just fill the tub, add the salt, turn it on, use a test strip to check the balance of the water, set the tub size, usage and temperature and wait for the temperature to reach setting. The natural chlorine in the salt is much easier on your skin and the salt water makes your skin so soft and your body free of aches and pains. The salt water is healing.

The new technology takes the guess work out of using the spa. It has a brain (computer) that tells you what to do. We highly recommend the HotSpring Ace Salt Water Spa. It is an amazing spa.”

Each of Oregon Hot Tub’s showrooms in Beaverton, Bend, Clackamas and Vancouver features at least one tub filled with water and equipped with the ACE System. Stop by a local showroom and check it out for yourself. Dip your hand in the water and feel the difference. Or you can even schedule a test soak in any showroom where you can get in and feel the entire experience.

We are confident you won’t be disappointed!
