FAREWELL TO A TRUE RENAISSANCE MAN

Farewell to a True Renaissance Man

On July 4th, Oregon Hot Tub lost one of its family. We are sincerely heart-broken in announcing that Paolo Weatherbee, our Valet Technician in the Portland area, has passed away.

While many of us at Oregon Hot Tub knew Paolo well, after reading his heart-felt obituary (the Oregonian July 18th, 2010)–which truly captures the essence of Paolo–we were extremely impressed by Paolo’s accomplishments-pilot, aviation electronics technician, certified open water diver, musician, BA in Geography, one course shy of obtaining a graduate degree in Geographic Information Systems from PSU, Coast Guard petty officer, navigator, radioman, and Bering Sea rescuer.

Reflecting on all that Paolo accomplished not only provides us with a better glimpse into Paolo’s life, but an opportunity for self-reflection-perhaps realizing that we have potential to be and experience so much more if we invest the time and energy and have a carpe-diem approach to life.

Paolo was an amazing person and lived life to the fullest. He was a true Renaissance Man. We are all better for having known him, and we wish his family our deepest condolences. We miss Paolo, but we know he is happy–once again able to embrace the daughter he loved so deeply. He leaves behind his fiancée, Tory Shirley, and her children, Eleanor and William. Rest in peace, Paolo.

A benefit to help with the family’s expenses will be held Aug. 29th at the Bossanova Ballroom, 722 East Burnside St. in Portland. See www.mountainstomp.com for upcoming details.

OREGON HOT TUB PLEDGES SUPPORT TO SAVE REDMOND’S FIREWORKS SHOW

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Oregon Hot Tub recently pledged $3,000 to help save Redmond’s Annual 4th of July fireworks display at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo. With Oregon Hot Tub’s generous donation, just a little more than three quarters of the $7,000 needed to put on the show, has been raised by the community. An additional $2,500 still needs to be raised by June 4, 2010 to cover the cost of the show.

Sue Rogers, President of Oregon Hot Tub, stated, “Fourth of July is a day for families and neighborhoods to come together. I have many fond childhood memories of this special day, and firework celebrations are a part of the American fabric. I can’t imagine any community having to go without one.” Oregon Hot Tub is Oregon’s largest and most established hot tub company and has been in business since 1979—in Bend, OR since 1994—and is committed to its customers and the communities it serves. “We are thrilled with Oregon Hot Tub’s support to save our Fourth of July fireworks and are confident the Redmond community is equally as grateful,” comments Eric Sande, Executive Director of the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB.

Donations for the remaining $2,500 needed for Redmond’s annual Fourth of July fireworks show are being accepted at the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB and the City of Redmond. Donations may be made in the form of check, cash or VISA. For more information, please contact the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB at 541-923-5191 or go online to www.visitredmondoregon.com.
